A friend of mine recommended United Electric when I needed help with lighting issues outside my home.  My electrician arrived on time and spent time with me as I went over what I had envisioned for lighting my deck. I was provided a quote which was fair. The job was done on time and worked exactly the way I had described it to him. I will always call on United Electric for all my electrical and wiring needs.

Hair Dryers
Have you ever lived in an apartment or in a home where the circuit breaker "pops" or "trips off" every time you use the hair dryer?
Or maybe your daughter turns on her hair dryer in her bathroom and bam! The lights go off in your bathroom?
Well you are not alone. Almost half of the houses in America have inadequate wiring in their bathrooms and kitchens! With newer appliances and hair dryers you almost have to have an electrician come out and install new lines. dd

"Intelligent" doesn't always mean "Smart"
Making the grid smart will require upgrading the system that now delivers our electricity from generation sources to our homes.
New smart meters have captured the public's imagination. These devices are designed to enable two way communication between utilities and their customers' loads.
The target for the future is to have the appliances ; washers dryers, dishwashers, and even smart electric cars to be programmed to respond to changing supplies and prices.
The future is not that far in the future.|

Electrical Fires
Not to be alarmists, but we know that you consider safety as a top priority when it comes to your family for your home or apartment. We get it. So it may come as a surprise to learn that most electrical fires are caused by faulty electrical installations. That's right human error.
The good news is that the devices we have protecting our buildings are getting more and more safety oriented every year. With the new smarter AFCI (arc fault circuit interrupter) and a little less new GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) breakers you are much safer than 50 years ago.
Keep in mind, if you hire a non-licensed inexperienced handyman, maybe the error is with the idea you will be saving a little money.

Safety First. Why GFCI outlets and breakers?

GFCI versus Grounded systems (the plugs with test and reset buttons, found near sinks or wet locations)

Why do we need ground - fault circuit interrupters (GFCIs) when we have grounded systems?

Grounded systems provide a path of low impedance for ground faults. To interrupt the the circuit, the ground - fault current must reach the trip level of the
over current device. A person who is touching an energized object and is in contact with a grounded surface will be subjected to electric shock. The seriousness of the shock
is dependent on the length of time it takes to open the circuit and the voltage level of the circuit. With a 15-ampere over-current-protective device (breaker, fuse), the current may never reach that trip level, and electrocution may occur. With GFCI protection, the sensing coil will detect a leakage of current not returning to the source through the return conductor
(instead the current is flowing through the person's body), and when it reaches a level of 4 to 6 milliamps the GFCI will open the circuit (trip off). The 4 to 6 milliamps through the body of a person to ground may result in a severe shock but will not cause electrocution.

"United Electric is a World Class act. I called John for advice on a potential need, we moved our entire office into our bedroom. My wife is a computer consultant and the power in our bedroom was going to be an issue. John came out right away and added an entire circuit to my wife’s desk. VERY reliable service, and I referred John to my neighbor and he too was very satisfied."
